This was perhaps one of the most on-topic discussions we've had since the start of our TED salons here at Grey.... I think some of the biggest observations today were the value of "showing up to do the work" with the hope that inspiration will come, though showing up regardless is key... [Some ways to do that include National Novel Writing Month and February Album Writing Month]

Funny that some said Ms. Gilbert was obviously nuts (but, you know, in the nice way) when I thought she was Very Reasonable. But do I admit that out loud in the room full of co-workers who I'd prefer thought of me as sane? Nah. I give it permanent record, here.

People seemed to agree that the safety of not entirely owning an idea was not just a good thing, but a true thing, in the advertising world, since so many hands go into a project. (Correct me if I misunderstand/incorrectly restate your meanings, dear colleagues.)

We did wander into a discussion of brands and what that means, or how brands ally themselves with an idea, or than an idea can be brand too-- which brings us to Ze Frank (link, above, because the embed code was kicking like a toddler that won't. get. in. the. damn. carseat.) In Ze Frank's 'Jon Benet' episode of The Show he gives his thoughts on the definition of a brand. It's pretty insightful, almost as if this comedian/artist has a degree in a hard science from an Ivy League school or something...

We had guests from out-of-agency today, and are looking forward to more (and again) as these continue.

The comments section belongs to the people who are reading this.
